Words can be fun…
Listening to Nova 100 this morning, I heard a discussion about crows and ravens. After hearing a few people refer to a group of ravens as a “flock of ravens”, I remembered that a group of crows is known as a “murder of crows” which is a really mad collective noun.
There are even better collective nouns, including a conspiracy of ravens. My favourite collective nouns include:
- Pod of assasins
- Wunch of bankers
- Rascal of boys
- Alibi of crows
- Parliament of ravens
- Cry of hounds
- Fagot of drummers
- Paradise of elephants
- Giggle of girls
- Colony of gulls
- Den of thieves
- Slither of snakes
- Lust of prostitutes
