I received this in one of my email addresses today which  reminded me of ABC’s Four Corners’ recent report on cyber crime. This email, in my opinion, is an attempt by identity fraudsters at recruiting money mules.

In a phishing scam context, money mules are employed by scammers to receive bank deposits in their bank account (usually from victims’ accounts) , withdraw the funds and then wire it back to the perpetrator. Most are ignorant to their involvement in such scams but in reality it’s likely that they know that they’re involved in something illegitemate.

Anyway, here’s what looks like an invitaiton to be a mule to me. What should I do? Should I bait the scammers? (more…)

ProjectPier Email and Upload Problems Solved

One of my subjects, “Enterprise Engineering”, requires us to form a group to work on a project. Since my group only really gets together once a week, I used this as an excuse to install something I’ve wanted to for ages – ProjectPier. After registering this domain, it was the first thing I set up. ProjectPier was really impressive – it is just as good as, if not better than 37 Sinals’ “Basecamp”, except it’s free! But I soon realised that ProjectPier wasn’t so great…
